About the congress

The Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) represents 23 cardiology societies in the Asia-Pacific region. The Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology Congress was founded in 1956, and has been a significant biennial event for both delegates and renowned cardiology specialists globally. The Congress series is also known as a superior program in the field of cardiovascular medicine. This exceptional event will take place annually starting from 2018, and Taiwan is honored to be the first host after this innovation. The Congress will not only showcase the latest research by professional physicians and scientists, but also acts as an excellent platform to recognize what Asia-Pacific region has contributed to the field of cardiology.

Welcome message

It gives me great pleasure and honor to announce that Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) Congress 2018 will be organized by Taiwan Society of Cardiology (TSOC) in Taiwan from May 17 to 20, 2018.

APSC Congress series stand for top-notch scientific program in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Every two years, outstanding physicians and scientists gather at the Congress to release their advanced research and share best practices. Starting from 2018, this remarkable gathering will take place once a year. Taiwan is proud to be the first host of this new era of APSC Congress, recognizing the important contribution that Asia-Pacific region can make for the world in the field of cardiology.

To fully acknowledge the gravity of this change, we have arranged an enriching and diverse scientific program. In addition to plenary lectures, symposia, live demonstration and seminars, we also cooperate with societies in rest of the medical fields and host joint-sessions, accentuating a holistic view of cardiology, and to have a broader scale in fighting for cardiovascular disease and lunettes pour ordinateur. Expected attendees from Asian Pacific Regions will be more than 3,500, including physicians, scientists, and allied health care specialists, to take part in this eminent program.

APSC Congress 2018 will definitely be a platform where you can experience the cutting-edge technology and late breaking scientific evidence with friends from APSC member countries/regions. Congress information

Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) is a spectacular tribute to the emergence of Taipei as a world-class business destination. Registration

Registration will be accepted ONLY upon received of payment. Registration acknowledgement will be sent to you via e-mail after a completion of your online registration. The confirmation of registration will be sent via e-mail upon clearance of payment.

Cancellation

All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing to the APSC 2018 Registration Secretariat. For cancellations postmarked on or before March 22, 2018 (GMT+8), 75% of the registration fee will be refunded. For cancellations on or after March 22, 2018 (GMT+8), no fees will be refunded. Refunds will be issued during the congress.

Visa Application

Letter of Invitation

Participants may request invitation letter from the APSC 2018 Secretariat. The invitation is issued only when the payment is completed. The invitation is for the purpose of entry visa application and is not a commitment from the APSC 2018 organizers to provide financial aid to any applicant or their accompanying persons. Expenses incurred are the personal responsibility of the applicant.

VISA Application to Taiwan

Please refers to Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (TAIWAN) for further information regarding to the VISA application to Taiwan.

VISA for Mainland Chinese Participants

Due to a series of complicated application works to Taiwan for the participants from mainland China, here kindly suggest you should contact the APSC 2018 Secretariat at least 3 months prior to the congress date for the application work.

Language

Mandarin is the official language. English is spoken quite extensively.

Climate

Time Zone

Taiwan is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

Currency

The currency of Taiwan is the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$). Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the banks, airport and hotels. Payment by major credit card is accepted almost everywhere around Taiwan.

Electricity

Taiwan uses an electric current of 110 volts at 60 cycles. Many buildings also have 220-volt sockets. Visitors with appliances of different voltages are urged to bring adapters with them.

Exchange rates

The New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is the currency used today in Taiwan. The exchange rate is around US$1 to NT$32. Like most countries, they come in the forms of bills and coins. Foreign currency exchanges are easy to access. Exchange service is available at the airport. banks, hotels and large department stores. Tipping & Tax

Sales tax is included in the listed price in Taiwan Tipping is not customary in Taiwan, but some hotels and restaurants automatically add a 10% service fee to the bill.

Telephone & Wi-Fi

Public telephones are easy to find in Taipei. Free public Wi-Fi service is available across Taipei city both indoors and outdoors. The SSID of Wi-Fi access is TPE-Free. Visitors who wish to use the service can set up an account with valid passport or entry permit at twelve Tourist Information Center at Taipei included Taipei Main Station and Songshan Airport. In addition to the free Wi-Fi access, payable Wi-Fi accesses are also available in most of 7-11 convenience stores across Taiwan, and in coffee shops and restaurants like Starbucks or McDonald’s. Prepaid access cards can be purchased over the counter at the stores, and the costs vary.

Taiwan is the repository of captivating natural sceneries, such as the awe-inspiring Taroko Gorge, National Palace Museum, the tallest building of Taiwan - Taipei 101, and the highest mountain in the Northeast Asia - Yushan (Jade Mountain). Taiwan is also a paradise for gourmets to taste the varied delicate and delicious cuisines, such as local Taiwanese snacks, Hakka dishes, Chinese cuisines, and unique aboriginal foods. Gourmets may try the foods with local flavors in the night markets, and have exquisite dining in five-star hotels. Taiwan is absolutely a place that tourists may not want to miss.

Taipei 101(Distance from the venue: 350m)

Taipei 101, with a mass of shops on the lower floors, incorporate many top brands under the LVMH group, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, etc. The fourth floor houses the Page One bookstore from Singapore, with the highest-roofed coffee house in Taipei and many fine restaurants.

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall(Distance from the venue: 5.7km) This memorial hall was built in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the first president of the Republic of China. Work on the hall began in 1976, a year after President Chiang passed away. Design by C.C. Yang, who was also the architect for The Grand Hotel, the memorial hall is white with a blue roof, representing the dominant colors in the ROC flag; while the emblem of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) adorns the vaulted ceiling. A bronze statue of Chiang looks west symbolically to the Presidential Office Building and mainland China. The front plaza of the hall is also a major venue for democratic assemblies.

National Palace Museum(Distance from the venue: 13.4km)

The National Palace Museum houses the world's largest collection of priceless Chinese art treasures, one which spans China's nearly 5,000-year history. Most of the museum's 620,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 1,000 years ago in the early Sung dynasty. National Palace Museum is protecting and preserving the 5000-year cultural legacy of China with advanced technologies; cooperating with private connoisseurs and ushering in exhibitions from China; bringing the Museum's collection to the global community and welcoming arts of the world to the Museum.

Xinyi District (Shopping Area)(Distance from the venue: 800m)

The Xinyi District is the newest trend-setting commercial district in Taipei, embracing dozens of fashionable malls, restaurants, and hotels on Sections 4 and 5 of Xinyi Road. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store's New Life Square and A4 branches, Novel Hall for Performing Arts, Vie Show Cinemas, Grand Hyatt Taipei Hotel, and Taipei 101 are just a few of the many places where you can satisfy your consumer cravings in this area. By day, the Xinyi District bustles with the fast-paced energy of business as Taipei's commercial and financial center. Longshan (lungshan) Temple(Distance from the venue: 9.1km)

Xinbeitou Hot Springs(Distance from the venue: 16.7km)

Hot springs in Xinbeitou with high temperature and many sources are caused by the terrestrial heat of Datun Mountains. Thermal valley is one of the earliest hot spring sources found in Taiwan. Beitou hot spring has been famous since Japanese colonial times. The area is around with historic monuments and natural scenic spots. Beitou Museum, Yinsong Building, Xingnai Spring, Beitou Library, Beitou Hot Spring Park, and the Folk Museum connect into a hot spring route.

Lin An Tai Historical Home(Distance from the venue: 7.3km)

The two-century old Lin An Tai Historical Home is a southern Fujianese-style courtyard. The rocks that cover the front yard were taken from rocks that were used by mainland merchants to stabilize their ships. The pond in the front was used for defensives purposes. It also helped lower summer heat and provided water for drinking and putting out fires.

Taipei Fine Arts Museum(Distance from the venue: 9.1km)

Shaped like a pound sign, the Taipei Fine Art Museum is a traditional siheyuan courtyard with a modern edge. At night the artfully lighted museum is an eye-catching landmark. The museum hosts many international exhibitions.
